Silent Night - Casting Crowns

A fire was ebbing to a soft glow in the fireplace. The tree was lit and soft Christmas music soothed me. Everyone else in the house was in bed. I ruminated on the meaning of Christmas. This is a personal holiday tradition for 25+ years. In the quiet beauty of the soft glow of Christmas lights in darkness with hot chocolate I find my best meditations on the true meaning of Christmas.

The Bible says a lot about quietness and a still heart before God. Perhaps I need to do this more than one night a year!

Lamentations 3:26 (NIV)
It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD

Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

I Peter 3:4 (NLT)
You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

Find a quiet moment this Christmas. Plan for it. Still your heart.

Oh come let us adore him.

Come.
