Several years ago, the song "Christmas Shoes" sung by Newsong, became a popular Christmas tune. It is about a young boy who wants to buy shoes for his mother who is days away from dying, with all the money he has.Our family just can't listen to that song. You see, I came into the family about 3 years after they lost their beloved wife and mother, Donna. That song could have been about our son, Bob, who has a heart of gold, and would give it away if it was necessary.
In the song, the narrator sings -
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me
just what Christmas is all about
The little boy showed love and sacrifice. Truly this is why the baby Jesus came. For love and for sacrifice. For me. For you.
